reflects upon: RESISTANCE through Art

Sunday, April 7, 2013 I 5:00 - 8:30
at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia
8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax

5:00pm – 6:00pm "Unto Every Person There Is A Name" and Youth & Community Art Exhibits
Participate in B’nai B’rith International’s reading of names of those murdered during the Holocaust. View youth and community artists’ original works inspired by the Holocaust and created for this year’s observance. Artwork will be on display at the JCCNV February 12-April 15.

6:00pm – 7:00pm “Holocaust Art: Then & Now”
George Mason University History  and Art History Professor Marion Deshmukh will describe and display works of art created during the Holocaust and interview local artists Lynn Goldstein and Lilianne Milgrom about Holocaust inspired works they have produced.

7:00pm – 8:30pm  Community Commemoration
Featuring a multigenerational candle lighting, readings, prayers, the Holocaust Kaddish, community choir and musicalreflections, including a newly created composition by a George Mason University music student.
