From November 5th thru 9th, 2015, the JCRC welcomed our 3rd Annual Scholar In Residence, Member of Knesset Ayelet Nahmias Verbin.

She joined us to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the assassination of Israel’s warrior turned peacemaker, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, for a series of programs which celebrated his living legacy and applied his inspirational leadership to contemporary Zionism.

Video from "Let the Sun's Light Rise" at the DC JCC on Thurs. Nov, 5th.

Over the course of 5 days, MK Nahmias Verbin, a former assistant to Yitzhak Rabin, member of the Zionist Union party, advocate of Israeli Democracy and tolerant dialogue, and a passionate activist for Rabin’s legacy, visited 3 synagogues, 3 universities, 2 churches, 1 think tank, 1 high school, and more. She spoke to hundreds of community members in DC, Maryland, and Virginia the need to work towards a peaceful and democratic Israel.

She said, "Tolerance and compassion are part of my religion. Tolerance and compassion are part of Judaism, part of Zionism. I don't want to believe Rabin's vision for Israel has stopped. We have to all work together to bring a better future for all people in the region."
