2012 NoVA JCRC Holocaust YHS Program

In 2012, JCRC's northern Virginia Holocaust commemoration reflected upon, "Corporate Complicity: European Industry in the Holocaust Years." Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat's keynote address gave a first hand accounting of restitution negotiations he conducted with European allies and companies. The program was hosted at the Gesher Jewish Day School. Over 150 students of all backgrounds heard testimony from 16 local Holocaust survivors. The adult commemoration hosted over 350 individuals and included interfaith readings and music. A highlight of the program is the candle lighting ceremony that honors survivors lighting the first four candles, followed by a 5th candle of the next generation and a 6th candle of hope lit by companies and non-profit leaders representing high corporate values and ethics in society.
