Middle East Forum: Israel@65
Israel@65: A Panel Discussion on the Achievements and Challenges Facing Israel on her 65th birthday featuring Ambassador Dennis Ross, Counselor, The Washington Institute For Near East Policy; Kenneth M. Pollack, Senior Fellow, Foreign Policy, Saban Center for Middle East Policy, The Brookings Institution; and Barry Bogage, Executive Director, Maryland/Israel Development Center
These experts on Israel's foreign policy, security and economy addressed the successes Israel has achieved over the last 65 years while outlining the challenges Israel is facing in a changing Middle East.
As Israel celebrates her 65th birthday having accomplished in 65 years what many democracies around the world took centuries to achieve, she has realized peace with two of her neighbors and still faces multiple hostile borders. Israel faces ever-changing geopolitical realities in the Middle East. Israel's security situation has led to successful innovations including the world class Iron Dome missile defense system, and in the private sector Israel is recognized as an international leader in the hi-tech and scientific fields. As Israel celebrates 65 years as a modern nation, we explored Israel's past successes, current challenges and assessed the direction the country and region was heading in the future.
