JCRC Statement
June 22, 2025
The following is a statement from Guila Franklin Siegel, chief operating officer of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington.
“As the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, Iran must never be permitted to develop or secure nuclear weapons. Over the past ten days, military strikes launched by Israel and now the United States have dealt a significant blow to Iran’s nuclear capabilities. We welcome this development, and the rest of the world should as well.
“We thank President Trump and the courageous members of the United States military for their pursuit of a nuclear-free Iran, and hope that these strikes ultimately help lead to a lasting peace in the Middle East. For decades, Iran has made no secret of its desire to destroy both the United States and Israel, funding terrorist proxies that have killed U.S. troops and Israeli civilians alike. Crippling Iran’s nuclear program will save countless lives, now and in the future.
“Here at home, we also thank law enforcement personnel for their steadfast commitment to protecting local religious institutions. In times of crisis and calm, their presence and vigilance helps ensure the safety of Jewish families and communities. Today and always, we are deeply grateful for their support.”
